Austep started its activity in 1995 as an engineering company, specialised in design and construction, operating and control of wastewater treatments, water reuse and water provisioning. During the last years Austep has gained a hold upon industrial wastewater treatments in Italy and abroad specialising in dissolved air floatation, clarification, flocculation SBR/MBR and filtration process systems.

In the overall field of water treatments, Austep offers a highly quality service with its staff of process engineers, project managers and plant technicians including both company employees and consultants, offering a full-service approach.

Process engineering is supported by the company's in-house R&D division, working on research and development of new technologies in co-operation with European universities.

Austep is ISO 9001:2000 certified and has developed its own quality system.
